I’ll tell you what made me feel great.
Travelling Europe with my now Fiance’ (we got engaged in Ireland, it was freaking beautiful and was the scariest thing i have ever done in my life lol).
And it wasn’t for the reasons you might think.
The escape was of course lovely, the whether was beautiful and the lack of “busy” was magical.
But it was the fact that while I was away, I was able to fill the 4 needs that govern my world with ease. And even though stress of work and money and building a house and running businesses and being busy were still present,
“I had clarity.”
So in this months Mindset & Goal Setting Workshop our focus was on identifying what makes you feel great. And as all things in psychology aren’t always so obvious, in our 45 min session we delved into what it is that you need, what drives you, what can hold you back and how to open your eyes to what actually controls the way you view the world and how react to it. Because once you have mapped that out, once you understand your guidance system and the fuel you need, you gain clarity like never before and it’s like a fire has been ignited underneath you and you become ready to take on the world.
We have all felt like this before. So amazing that even the impossible doesn’t seem that far out of reach. But we’ve all fallen back into distress and cloudy mind just as often.
So, let’s have a look at that.
There are 4 human needs that every single person has to meet and will meet each and every day.
- Certainty
- Uncertainty
- Love & Connection
- Significance
The question is, which of these do you need more of? You need them all, all of the time, you just need different amounts. Do you need lots of certainty in your life? Are you always chasing significance? Do you yearn for love and connection? Or do find solace in chaos?
Honestly, it doesn’t really matter.
What matters is whether or not you’re aware of what you need and how you receive your needs.
Because you can achieve the same level of any of them through many different ways, some productive, many destructive.
Once you have started to understand why you do things a bit more, let’s see how you do them.
What are the standards that you hold that define who you are, every single day.
Are you clean? Are you messy? Do you always find the positive in any situation? Are you honest? Do you pay attention to detail? Do you always give 100% in everything you do? Do you love unconditionally? Do you swear? Do you drink? Are you fit? Are you healthy?
Write as many things as you can possibly think of. What is it that undeniably makes you, you?
“If you were to create a behavioural clone of yourself, you would first input your standards.”
A standard is who you honestly believe you are and the only time you drop that standard is when you change that belief, not because you want to have a weekend off. So when you write this list, be completely honest, open & transparent.
The beauty of understanding your standards is realising that they are what have helped you achieve everything you have ever gained and is responsible for anything that you didn’t.
So if you want more from your life, identify on that list, the standards that have held you back and the ones that have gotten you to where you are and raise them to the next level.
What we know, is that no matter how much equipment we have, how many people you train with, how amazing the trainers are, if you don’t feel great, you don’t want to grow. You don’t want to step up to the next challenge, you hold on to and identify with whatever it is that is preventing you from feeling great.
So, before you start all of the above exercises, start with this simple piece of homework.
Write a list of 30 things that make you feel GREAT!
Spread them across 3 categories:
Personal | Professional | Spiritual
Once you have written that list, send them to me denee@uftplaygrounds.com.au and let’s see how we can spend more time on the things that make us feel great every day. Because if we can spend more time in that state, you’ll always be ready to take on the world.
I’m really looking forward to hearing your responses and seeing you all at the next workshop.
Let me know if you’re coming 7:30-8:15pm Tuesday the 31st of July 2018.
Enjoy your day & PLAY 😀
Denee
