So if starting your day right, feeling great about yourself, boosting your energy, getting an endorphin release and achieving your health and fitness goals are all things that you want to bring into your life, then follow the routine below and maximise the benefits of training in the morning and get the most out of your day.
EVERYDAY RITUALS TO GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR EARLY MORNING TRAINING
- Have your workout gear ready the night before
One of the easiest excuses that you can offer yourself is not having the time to get ready in the morning. So eliminate that excuse by having your clothes, shoes, breakfast and water bottle ready to go the night before.
- Have a 3 min shower as soon as you wake up
Waking up can be difficult for some of us, especially with kids, stressful jobs and everything else that life throws at us. So a great way to make yourself feel fresh and great before rocking up to the gym is to jump in the shower with a 3 min timer set. It will wake you up, make you feel fresh and ready to attack your workout.
- Drink 500ml – 1L of water before you leave the house
Most people don’t stay hydrated well throughout the day and a lot don’t hydrate well before and after training. A great way to optimise your training sessions is to drink 500ml to 1L of pure water before training. So in this case, get it done before you leave the house in the morning and head to the gym. It will help wake you up and increase your performance when you get started.
- Get out of bed when your first alarm goes off
You know it’s true, you have set 2,3,4…..10 alarms every morning to get you out of bed because you’re addicted to hitting snooze. Fitness and health comes from being disciplined and doing the little things everyday that make a difference. This is one of them. Not only do you wake up better then having consistently interrupted sleep. Once you’re out of bed and either in the shower or putting your clothes on, you’re creating a healthy habit to get you moving and starting your day in the best possible way.
- Train with a friend
One of the best ways to get yourself into a good routine in the mornings is to do it with a friend. Find someone that you can bounce off, that will bring positive energy into your mornings and that you’ll work well with and do it with them. You are now more accountable, less anxious and more likely to continue.
Add these rituals to your morning and start reaping the rewards of training early and starting your day right.
